Why People Fail (Interview With Siimon Reynolds)

Siimon Reynolds is an extremely successful business Entrepreneur who has written a book called “Why People Fail.”

His book struck a chord with me and I wanted to drill down at a higher level into 3 of the concepts he outlines.

Even if you are not in business, I know you can take away an enormous amount from this interview.
(We can learn so much from people who have been down the road before us.)

Why Do People Fail?

In the book, Siimon outlines 16 obstacles that often trip people up and offers practical solutions for overcoming them.

In the interview, I wanted to dig down into three areas that really interest me …

1. Poor Self Image

This is such an important topic and Siimon has some great insights about why people have a poor self image and specifically what you can do to improve yours.

2. Daily Rituals

This is an amazing part of the interview and Siimon shares with us how he starts and finishes his day.  I took a page of notes on this answer alone while I was interviewing him, and it’s worth watching for this alone

3. Weak Energy

This is something that Siimon is an expert in.  His tips are amazing when it comes to getting a lot more energy from each day

Great interview Andrew/Siimon, many good points in there.

It’s interesting to hear from a business owner whose keys to success are not related to P&Ls, but are more aligned with much more general success principles.

It seems that achieving success in business is exactly the same as achieving success in life … It’s all about belief.

  • Gary

Excellent interview Andrew as always. It would be great if perhaps you could relay some of Siimons thoughts into point form onto one of your blogs so the ‘average’ person may comprehend it. I know some people dont take the time to view interviews of this length. I thoroughly enjoyed it. You are very passionate about your cause and are a true inspiration. I am currently undergoing a diploma in life coaching and am sure that lots of your material with be most beneficial in allowing me to succeed in this area.

Thanks Gary – and great feedback for future posts.

In my experience, discipline and the ability to control your thoughts and particularly your emotions has been the key factor in my recent success. I have been in business for 13 years and last year I really questioned what I was doing it all for. I went through huge amounts of depression and anxiety because my world was out of control but in the end this was the best thing that has ever happened to me because it made me really clarify what I wanted from life
I have set myself free of many “untrue stories” that I was telling myself by doing daily rituals etc. The routine is certainly worth the effort and I can feel my self belief growing and so can the people around me. Now the business that I thought I hated has become my greatest passion again because I now focus on adding as much value as possible my customers and team members.
To anyone out there who is struggling with there own thoughts and emotions , get excited and work hard on yourself because there is freedom on the other side you need only to re load the software as Siimon mentioned !!! Great interview Andrew love your work.

I have always had energy and ambition. Yet without the focus on a particular set of goals, its easy to become lost at sea.
I have also struggled with relationships.
When you are working for people, you have to balance the objectives of the employer with your own objectives and those of your co workers.
Being that we all rely on help from others, it really helps if you can encourage and inspire people to support your goals and share that focus.
Having been misunderstood in the past, has compromised my own self confidence and brought me into conflict with people.
People are not always positive, or share your ambitions, so I have found, jealousy or mistrust can so easily undermine your efforts, if you don’t engage with people and take on board their point of view.
Wanting success, isn’t enough, you have to build an environment where success flourishes.
Perhaps building the environment is the toughest part.
From an idea, to a successful business is my goal, but without support from people who can support, guide and indeed share your inspiration, it becomes pretty tough.

You are doing a fabulous job Andrew.. Every aspect of your and Simons thoughts resonate with what has been taught and practised by some of the great people the world has seen.. Keep it up..

  • Hi Andrew, Downloaded the book last weekend and read it within a day. Practical, down to earth advice written in a very engaging way. Highly recommended.

  • Hi Andrew! Great interview! But don’t you think that this positive thoughts and kind of stuff are already in the past. Just as an opinion: maybe what is working for Siimon, it does not for Val, for example? Belief was not working for me particularly, because were is belief – there are doubts. In 2000 years none of humans started waking on the water ore started to move mountains. I have tried to wright things on a paper that I am great and nice and so… but those things were dead at the time. The things starts changing after I got knowledge about myself. When you know that you are the best, that become undoubted, no one else will even try to convince you on opposite. What is your opinion on this?

    • Andrew

Hi Val, Im not completely sure I understand your question – but I think you are asking if what works for Siimon might not work for others? And yes – this is 100% correct.
However, I have personally found that most people I work with who engage in a morning ritual like the one Siimon talks about have more confidence and belief in themselves. The key thing is to be consistent with it – ie daily. It really does work.
Another great book to read on this is a book by Michael Losier called “The Law of Attraction”
